Educational Consultant Spotlight: Emerson Educational Consulting
At Emerson Educational Consulting (EEC), the student or graduate school candidate is always the “star” of the story. We know that a “cookie cutter” approach doesn’t meet the needs of the globally diverse students, candidates and families we work with. We thoroughly assess the student’s or candidate’s strengths, goals, aspirations and needs. For high school students we always consider the family’s objectives, wishes and requirements.
Over the past 19 years, EEC’s founder, Marilyn Emerson, a past president (2012-2014) of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), has become a recognized leader in the field. In addition to working one-on-one with students and being responsible for the overall strategy and performance of EEC, Marilyn spearheads a number of volunteer projects and mentors those new to the profession.
The independent educational consultants at EEC hold themselves to the highest standards of ethics, confidentiality and integrity. And, we are not happy unless we’re learning something new about a college or university, the application process or higher education.
We really listen. Our students, candidates and families have a lot to say and want someone who is able to provide a unique look at their situation. By asking students and candidates the right questions we are able to hear their issues, their concerns, their hopes and their dreams.
We are problem solvers. Higher education is in a state of flux, stuff happens and things change. At EEC we are able to think on our feet and to foresee multiple solutions. Our goal is to provide students and candidates with options that fit them academically, socially and financially.
We believe in preparation. Unlike what you’ve heard, the college or graduate school admission process need not be overly stressful. In fact it could — and should — be a rewarding experience. We keep students on task. We help them create timelines, meet deadlines and remain focused.
We are on the move. We continually visit colleges and universities and attend professional conferences.
The consultants at EEC are committed to helping students and graduate school candidates find colleges and universities where they will be both academically successful and happy.
At Emerson Educational Consulting helping high school students and graduate school candidates is what we love doing.
